& Work

“The ultimate and intuitive test of whether an organisation is ok.”

Participant CommLab survey 'Communicatie & Schoonheid'

What is beautiful work?

Beautiful work is not just about making a profit and earning money. It is more than that. Good work and good organisations also consider why the organisation exists and how people work (together).

These are not simple matters to bring together. It is all about balance.
ReThink Beauty helpt schoonheid bespreekbaar te maken in organisaties.

Based on thorough research and a wealth of experience with the theme of Beauty & Organisation, we have developed three ways to help organisations get started:

NEWS

In collaboration with Logeion, the Dutch professional association for communication professionals, ReThink Beauty conducted a broad survey among this professional group on the question:

Does it add anything to view organisations through the lens of the word “Beauty”?

Why beauty?

Because it is a very special word. Even a vague word to which most people give their own meaning. And we love this “vagueness”. We use it.

Beauty is a word that almost everyone can identify with. A word that opens us up. A word that connects us to the happiness, laughter and, yes, even the sadness of who we are. A word that transcends boundaries. A word that lowers barriers and bridges distances.

Conversation

Beauty is an elusive concept. It transcends efficiency and satisfaction. Its breadth is both its strength and its challenge.

Discuss the beauty of your organisation and discover how this new perspective can yield unexpected insights into matters such as work culture and DEI policy.

Scan

Every organisation has its own beauty profile. It reflects how management and employees view the priorities on various beauty themes, such as the organisation’s mission, organisational culture and aesthetic appreciation for the way the organisation communicates.

The Beauty Scan shows the balance between these aspects and provides suggestions for improvements in this area.

U-Labs

Talking about the perception of beauty transcends reasoning and discussion, because personal perceptions are simply not open to debate. Presence connects us to the source of inspiration and will. The core of the ‘In beauty’ approach revolves around ‘thinking from the heart’.

In order to learn from the emerging future, we have to activate a deep learning cycle that involves not only opening the mind …. ,
but also opening the heart …. ( Leading from the Emerging Future. Otto Scharmer, Katrin Kaufer. )

SDG3
The Beauty4aChange interventions contribute to SDG3, the third of the 17 sustainable development goals formulated by the UN. The personal experience of beauty is reflected in personal happiness and consumer behaviour. All working methods therefore follow the mission of Project Beauty: by inviting people to reflect on their vision of beauty, we contribute to their personal well-being and more sustainable consumption.

Duurzame doelstelling 3: Verzeker een goede gezondheid en promoot welzijn voor alle leeftijden.

Inner Development Goals
Beauty4aChange interventions are aligned with the structure of the Inner Development Goals. The perspective and approach fit within the 5 domains and 23 skills that form the basis of the IDGs. The strongest connection is with: A. Domain: Being – Skills: Inner Compass, Integrity and Authenticity B. Domain: Relating – Skills: Appreciation, Connectedness

IDG Being, Inner compass : Having a deeply felt sense of responsibility and commitment to values and purposes relating to the good of the whole.
